We realised that the main problem with TB patients in this area is that the patients are careless in taking their medicines. This is due to lack of education, lethargy caused because of the long course of the medication, and also, since the medication is provided for free, they do not realise its worth. Hence we decided not to distribute the medicine to the patients, infact, to make it mandatory for them to come to the dispensary everyday and take their medicine in front of us. In case a patient does not come during the defined hours, one of our staff members goes and fetches him/her and makes them take the medicine.

Since 2004 when the D.O.T.S.-Centre was started, more than 500 patients have been cured in the centre. (figure last updated - Nov'09)

Since in TB treatment it is very important to take medicines regularly, the dispensary staff ensures that the patients come to the dispensary and take their medicines everyday. The medicines have been systematically arranged, with proper color coding.
