PRAKSH'S STORY (translated from hindi)

I came to Dharmarth Dispensary in December 2008. I was very unwell, and used to cough a lot. I could not go even go to work.

First they tested me, and found out that I had lungs TB (Tuberculosis). Then they gave me medicines. I used to come to the Dispensary to have my medicines. This was very useful, because if I had taken the medicines home, I might have missed taking them.

My course went on for 8 months, and now I am totally fine. I feel much better, and I am working again.

My treatment was done free of cost, and the Dispensary was very helpful for me.

Since its inceptions in 2004, Dharmarth Dispensary has registered 611 patients of Tuberculosis out of which 80% have been cured, 71 are currently under treatment. (Data as on 30th Nov'09).

The entire treatment for TB is provided free of cost.

JAI BHAGWAN'S STORY (translated from hindi)

I had cataract in both the eyes, because of which I had a very unclear vision. Now my one eye has been operated upon, and the other eye operation is yet to be done.

I was taken to a Private Hospital by Mr. Nagpal, in his car, and my operation was done for free.

Now Dharmarth Dispensary wants to do cataract operations in-house. The other hospitals, where the Dispensary was getting operations done require resident proof, which most of the people in this area do not have; hence they get turned down.

Also, the other hospitals being 30-40 kms away, arranging the logistics becomes a problem.

The General OPD of the dispensary receives over 100 patients everyday. Doctor consultation is provided for free to them.

URMILLA DEVI'S STORY (translated from hindi)

I have 2 children. I was so unwell, that I could not even cook for them. I was getting my treatment done from a private hospital. The treatment was costly also, and it was not even proving to be useful.

Then I came to this hospital in March'09, and took medicine from here. Now I am ok, and I can cook for my children.

Since Urmilla had pulmonary TB, there were chances of it being spread to her children below 6 yrs of age. Hence, her 3 yr old son was also given medicine for precautionary purposes.

Every month 300-400 children are vaccinated for DPT, OPV, Hep B., Measles, MMR, DT, TT and Typhoid.

Pulse Polio Drops are given to apx. 600-800 children every month.
